What is a micro-bakery?

In our micro-bakery, we pour our hearts into every bite, creating flavorful experiences that nourish and delight

"But have you tried the scones?"

Probably one of the best kept secrets in Woodbury are the scones at Nana's Cottage. They are delicious and if you don't pre-order or come early to the market they may be gone!!

"I am a sourdough lover and this is the BEST sourdough I have ever tasted"

The texture is perfect, allowing for thin slices. It freezes well, so I never waste a single crumb. And the scones...to die for!

"If you are picking up your bread at the farmers market come early!"

Yes, we are a small handcrafted bakery and do have limited availability. Our customers have come to love our breads and it's not unusual for us to sell out.

We built our business around a work/life balance in our family.

We found our place in the the community and consistently showed up.

We started with the basics. Sourdough breads with 3 ingredients: water, flour, and salt.

Having fun. Keeping it simple. Sharing what I have learned.

Baking bread is a balance of science and art. There are rules to follow, and you just have to learn the dough. Once you do, it's a completely different experience.

I have been baking for years and always loved time in my kitchen to create new things for me and my family. In 2021 I asked my daughter, Marissa, to show me how to make sourdough bread. It was the beginning of a new-found passion for me. Once I started I couldn't stop!! I wanted to learn more, make more flavors, and share my bread! It just kept growing, and I have loved every single minute.

I'm Adria, the head baker and owner of Nana's Cottage Minnesota.

hey there!

Yes, I do talk to the dough. Some people talk to their plants, I talk to my dough. Baking is a long process, from the starter to the finished loaf, and I find it to be a very personal one. Also, people often ask if my starter has a name. Of course, its Nana.

Talk to the dough.

This is about enjoying the journey. Living your best life. Doing what makes you happy. Smelling the flowers. All that good stuff. Spend time with the people you love. Enjoy a good meal. Dance at the wedding.

Smile.  Laugh.  Love.

Do you want to learn how to bake sourdough? Give it a try! If you are not able bake your own, find a local baker you trust and support their business! Trust me, it's a win win.

Eat.  Real.  Food.

Savor the moments.  Smell the bread.
